Batman Begins continua

Heath Ledger como el Joker.

Inesperado ¿a poco no? Especialmente considerando que Jake Gyllenhaal parece va a tener el papel de Harvey Dent.

Heath Ledger? Urgh. Doesn't make sense. Ledger's not nearly threatening or manic enough...

And when Christopher Eccleston was in the running? Haven't they seen Death and the Compass?

I thought Paul Bettany was in the running. I had no idea CE was being considered! He certainly has the charisma :)

CE was a finalist for The Scarecrow, too, evidently, so the final casting was rather ironic. He's so ferocious - he seems perfect for these parts, although he's also quite the type to steal a movie. Ledger seems like a choice made on preconceived box office rather than making a decent movie.

Well crap. He seems a little bit too sedate, but I hope the director can bring out the insane part. He is supposed to be this loser kind of guy in the beginning though... maybe it can work. Mmm...

Ledger doesn't seem to have anything like the range, particularly at the "loud" end of the range. Loser to power figure is right in CE's wheelhouse (Steve Baxter, video clerk to son of God?), and his spitting rage and flamboyant seductiveness - and ability to shift between - are so very strong. I understand PB more than HL. Ironically, PB got the part in The DaVinci Code after CE dropped out... You only ever need two degrees of separation in British acting!
