epifanía

¿El momento en que ya sabes que ya te agringaste irremediablemente?

Cuando miras algo con queso amarillo y... se te antoja.

Agringaste - not a proper word really. I'm sure I didn't make it up, but it is understandable as becoming gringo-like.

Antoja - from antojo. Craving.

For years I've found yellow cheese (cheddar or whatever) gross. A lot of Mexicans friends feel that *any* yellow cheese is pretty gross because God intended cheese to be white, maybe a little blue, but never bright yellow ;)

Me gusta queso amarillo y queso blanco pero nunce queso azul. Ugh. o possible 'el ughio' :)

I thought agringaste had something to do with gringo, but I wasn't sure.

Yep, having to do with gringo, but I have to admit I never actually use the word gringo. I usually only hear it used *by* my husband. Heh.

Oh and now it turns out even I can point and mock someone else. [livejournal.com profile] arquiloren below has just publicly admitted to liking veelveta. Bwah-hah-hah!

I saw that and considered commenting, but since she could make fun of my Spanglish, I decided she and I were even and let it go.

I like Velveeta when I was a kid. But it is the type of bland, sweet, creamy cheese that kids would like. Velveeta does melt well - so it can be nice for cooking, I suppose. I still never use it. Kinda like I never eat Spam even though I liked it as a kid.

Tacos con Spam y velveeta - available at a taqueria near you!

BTW [livejournal.com profile] arquiloren and everyone here speaking spanish is between 70 and a 100% bilingual, so you can comment away if inspiration strikes.

You sir are *this* close to being hit with a wet trout. Hrmmmp!

I could, but it would only be because I'm getting back at people who're making fun of me liking Velveeta. *g*

It's true. As a kid it was the only cheese I'd have. Now I've developed taste for white cheese as well, but there'll always be Velveeta in my fridge.
