I watched the second disc of L word...very addicting. I like Sam Carter, but I think if they had even 2 women directors/2 women writers it would be a very different show! The imbalance is almost increidble compared to the Jossverse, when yes, he has his little obsessions and archetypes, but women writers/producers etc. are welcomed into BTVS etc. I don't seem to remember many women writers/producers/etc. around the X-Files universe. There definately needs to be a stronger feminist/woman centric / women's voice in science fiction media--all TV could benefit, actually. However, I am not at all saying that men cannot write good women characters etc. I'd just like to see a balance. That may be in part why there are so many women fanfic writers. Subconsciously they kinda try to address the missing POV, that balance. Have you seen Kiss Kiss Bang Bang? This is a very cool movie-very cool, but in a good way.
